The Olympic Effect

In summer 2024, Paris hosted the summer Olympic Games. Many parts of the city center, including some of the most iconic landmarks, were transformed into sports venues, and millions of visitors, athletes, journalists, and spectators arrived from around the world during the short two-week period.

The Olympics have dramatically changed the rhythm and the atmosphere of the city. Barriers and screens were set up around the city center, wrapping the streets in the emblematic blue and pink colors of the Olympics. Many roads normally dominated by traffic were closed and turned into pedestrian zones, where crowds gathered freely to walk, celebrate, and watch the competitions together. A large percentage of Parisians have fled the capital to avoid the chaos, while international visitors flocked in to fill the streets, expressing their passion for the games.

For two weeks, Paris was transformed into a festive playground, overflowing with a surreal sense of joy and conviviality.
