Inferno

A series of woodcut relief printing based on the Inferno depicted in Dante’s Divine Comedy. In the poem, the hell is divided into nine circles, each containing the sinners of a specific sin: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud, and treachery.
The Italian names of the circles/sins are hand-calligraphed in blackletter, and then transferred onto wood blocks. The triangle reflects the funnel shape of the hell described in the poem, as well as serves as an indicator of the level of each circle in the hell.
